2008 – Jungle Book /Dances from the Heart Moving Through History (school assembly program)  

2009 – Adventures in Oz / Dances from the Heart: Dancing Legend (interpretations of Japanese, NW Native American, African and musical legend Dave Brubeck presented as school assembly program presented to over 900 students, Collaboration with pianists Mary Lee Scoville and Jessica  

Treon performing Dave Brubeck’s, “Points in Space” Mittleman consults and gets donations from Brubeck 

2010 – The Little Princess / Dances from the Heart: Guest artists, Mamadou and Abdoulaye Thioub (and drumming group), Roseena Robinson, Rachel Barreras, Kurt Danna 

2010 – 2017 - Collaboration with dance master from Senegal Abdoulaye Thioub 

2011 – The Tempest / Dances from the Heart: Points of Inspiration (including reflecting on PDE scholarship outing to see Martha Graham Company, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Alvin Aliey) Also guest artists Mamadou and Abdoulaye Thioub  

2012 – Alice in Wonderland / Dances from the Heart (guest artists Yemaya, Ibrahim Sory Sylla , Kurt Danna, choreography from Amber Merkens)  Interpretations of famous painters included 

2013 – Jane and the Giant Peach / Dances from the Heart (modern composers including Brooklyn Rider) also dance for Zach Konawalchek and guest artists Mamadou Thioub and Abdoulaye Thioub 

2014 – The Patchwork Girl of OZ / Dances from the Heart 

2015 - Jungle Book / Dances from the Heart (Guests Mary Eastman, Zephyr Kreis, Tyler Spencer, Milo Graamas) 

2016 – Peter Pan / Dances from the Heart (Guest alumni; Michaela Shoberg, Amity Jones, Roseena Robinson, Kurt Danna, PDE honored as Community Legend by OCCA 

2017 – The Magic Flute / Dances from the Heart (Guest alumni: Requisite Dance, Cecily Wechter) 

2018 – The Wizard in Oz / Dances from the Heart (Guest alumni: Cecily Wechter, Kurt Danna, Erika Sugrue) 

2019 – Pinocchia / Dances from the Heart (Guest alumni -Cecily Wechter, Kurt Danna, Erika Sugrue)

1975- present – Director of Newport School of Artistic Movement, teaching ballet, modern, jazz and African dance 

1975 - 1978 Egami Story Theatre – bi-weekly children’s show sponsored by the City of Newport. Mimisma – theater mask ensembles – performances in the schools w/ live music 

1972 – 1983 – Magic shows with William Merkens (magician’s assistant) 

1976 – 1986 - Newport Dance Theater (NDT) founded and regular public performances of original works.  

1977 – Mittleman has year long Artist-in-Residence from OCCA and OAC / Readings before formation of Red Octopus / Magic Touch – a series of skits dealing with sexual abuse and the prevention of it, mostly performed in schools (worked in conjunction w/ Children’s Services)  

1978 -  Mittleman works as AIE through Creative Children’s Guild (w/ Ernie Brown, Belinda Beider and Mike) /Rotations II: Experiments in Art, Music and Dance – multi-media show (dance, art, poetry, theatrical illusions) with Drake Deknatel, Mushin (Julie Swan, Bill Stiffler, David Franklin, Tommy Sassano), Bill Merkens, Ernie Brown / Kaliedescope – a collaboration of Nancy Mittleman and Teri Jernigan gathering various dancers and musicians / One of founding members of Red Octopus Theater Company / Cherry Orchard / Magic Touch – continues expanding performances to Portland schools 

1979 – An Evening of the Performing Arts – NTDE collaboration of various artist, dancers and musicians produced by Illusion Express / All’s Well That Ends Well (Helena) –Red Octopus Production 

1980 – Kidstuff - Collaboration of students from Nancy Mittleman, and Teri Jerigan /Time of Your Life and Richard III with Red Octopus  

1981 – Impulse: An Afternoon of Dance and Music / Hamlet (Ophelia) and Arsnic and Old Lace – Red Octopus 

1982 – Miss Leading Lady – directed by Margaretta Ramsey / Motion Plus – NTDE a performance of Modern Dance and Gymnastics / Three Penny Opera (choreography)– Red Octopus  

1983 – Motion Plus – (NTDE) and dance students / Nutcracker – all county production with Sian Zander and Teri Jernigan /Elephant Man (choreography) and Blythe Spirit (lights) – Red Octopus 

1980s – choreography for all of the following Red Octopus shows - Snow Queen - Kennedy/Lambert , What a Woman Wants, Quilters - Newman/Damashek, Director: Nancy Larsen, Bourgois Gentleman - Mollier, Director: Rod Price, What a Woman Wants*- Kennedy/Lambert, Director Van Aelsyn, A Midsummer Night's Dream*- Shakespeare, Director: Marc Maislen 

1980s – play double bass for Yaquina Orchestra and Red Octopus, Dido and Aneas 

1983 – Dracula with RO (acting – Von Helsing) 1984 – Motion Plus (NTDE) and dance students 

1986 – perform for groundbreaking of Newport Performing Arts Center (date?) / Newport Theater Dance Co incorporates young dancers and form Pacific Dance Ensemble. PDE collaboration with various artists performing at Naterlin Community Center (Mark Lambert, Rudy Drako)  

1987 – A Dance Peace / The History of Dance (school assembly programs) 

1988 – A Suite Space / Elements of Choreography (school assembly program) 

1989 – Governor’s Arts Awards (guest dancers), The Steadfast Tin Soldier / Journeys – guest artists Eugene Ballet and Abts American Dance Theater, Portland, OR / Indian Tale (NW Native American creation myths) / Quilters (collaboration with Red Octopus Theater Co. choreography / Peace Child (international exchange with the USSR) 

1990 – The Spider’s Feast / Recyclia / Sponsor Eugene Jazz Company /The Bourgeois Gentleman (with Red Octopus Theater Co.) / Pulse-Impulse (invited guests to NW Showcase of Choreographers, Hult Center, Eugene OR) / Mittleman receives Honor Award for History in the Making from Oregon Dance Association / Teach for OCCC /The Snow Queen (collaboration with Red Octopus Theater Co. and the Yaquina Orchestra, Takako letters and correspondence (suggested by OAC) 

1991 – The Wizard in Oz / Takako Toshitsuna visits to set up Japanese exchange / teach for OCCC  /  sponsor Oregon Dance Association conference/performances 

1992 – The Little Mermaid / Indian Tale II: When the Animals Danced (collaboration with Native American writer, E.K. Caldwell and musician Leon Forrest) / A Japanese Tale featuring story of Yuki Ona (guest artists from The American Dance Theater and Eugene Ballet) / PDE performs at opening of Oregon Coast Aquarium / Miss Lincoln County (guest artists) /sponsor the Jefferson Dancers / teach for OCCC 

1993 – Peter Pan / Japanese Exchange in Tokyo, Japan and Mombetsu, Japan (Newport’s sister city exchange) /Impressions of Japan (PDE impressions of Japanese trip) / school assemblies: NW Native American Creation Myths /Miss Lincoln County (guest artists) / sponsor The Jefferson Dancers 

1994 – Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland/ School assemblies: Women in Modern Dance / “Secrets” guest artists at Showcase of Northwest Choreographers at the Hult Center, Eugene, OR / Miss Lincoln County (guest artists) 

1995 – A Midsummer Night’s Dream / East Meets West (Toshitsuna Ensemble in Newport) / Miss Lincoln County (guest artists) / Coming of Age (collaboration with guest artists, Gretchen Spiro and Laura Enzer) 

1996 – The Little Princess/ Valentine’s Celebration/ Miss Lincoln County (guest artists) 

1997 – The Patchwork Girl of Oz / Valentine’s Celebration: The Language of Dance (art of choreography performed in schools throughout Lincoln County, OR) 

1998 – The Bluestone (adaptation of book by Newport’s renowned author, Richard Kennedy) / Japanese Exchange in Tokyo (PDE returns to work with Toshitsuna Ensemble in Japan) / Dances from the Heart 

1999 - Adventures in Oz (based on Emerald City of Oz and Ozma of Oz) –/ Dances from the Heart: The Art of Choreography

2005 – A Midsummer Night’s Dream /Dances from the Heart (dance interpretations of famous painters; Dali, Matisse, Picasso, Magrite, Klee, Pollock, Munch)  

2006 – Don Quixote /Dances from the Heart (collaboration with local artists including Rick Bartow, Ann Miller, Jeurgen Eckstein)/ A Midsummer Night's Dream (Titania) - RO 

2007 – Peter Pan / Dances from the Heart: Local Love (collaboration with local musicians) /Quilters (18th reunion performance, collaboration with Red Octopus Theater Co.), Appalachian Ebenezzer-RO, PDE receives award from OAC for 20 years of excellence in dance performance and education
